While installing VMware View Composer 6, I received the error:
Error 1920. Service VMware Horizon View Composer (svid) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
After following the KB article without success and some additional digging around, the fix was very easy.
The KB error that would likely be found with this error is listed here. This KB may send you down a Microsoft Certificate path. For me neither the Microsoft Windows Update patch or the manual removal corrected the solution.
For my environment, the fix was to modify the VMware Horizon View Composer service to log in with the same account that was used with the Windows Authentication on the local SQL Server 2012 Express instance.
