Working with an Ubuntu system that needed a system rename was quite simple, but I wanted to share a quick note here for reference.

First, edit the file /etc/hostname with your favorite text editor.  Once into the file, there

Next, we need to edit the hosts file. This is located under /etc/hosts.

With the name updated appropriately, save the file and you can restart the hostname.sh process to apply.  This configuration will persist through reboots.
