During the full Cacti Ubuntu installation video, it was noted that some folks had issues with the graphs displaying after the Cacti application update.  This is due to the path of the rra folder within Cacti.  The easiest method to update the path is to create a symbolic link within Ubuntu.

First, we should verify that the existing rra directory is empty.  To do this, browse to /usr/share/bin/cacti/site.  Within this folder is the rra directory.

Once emptied, we will create a symbolic link pointing to the original location setup by Ubuntu’s apt repository.

sudo ln -s /var/lib/cacti/rra rra

As you can see, the existig location is at /var/lib/cacti/rra.  The great thing about that is if you used the formatting guide provided in the Cacti installation video’s, this is also your largest partition.

The last step is to verify the proper permissions for the /var/lib/cacti/rra folder.  The default account created by Ubuntu’s APT repository is “www-data”.
